About the Artist
With an eye for beauty and the brush skill to bring any scene to life, Daniel Bayless is a welcome addition to Artiste's family of artists. His work can be found in galleries and collections across the country and around the world, everywhere from Elizabeth Taylor's private collection to the halls of the Disney Corporation and Omni Hotels.

“It is Impressionism," he explains, “but I also describe it as a little bit of Expressionism at the same time. Even though Expressionist paintings are usually non-objective, the brushwork is very important to me, and the texture and the consistency of oil paint is something that I relate to. It's a very sensual medium for me. I love the way it smells, I love the way it feels, and I love the way the colors react with one another . . . I naturally respond to color."

This winter, for everyone visiting Artiste to experience Daniel?s art and the new wines, he hopes one or both cause people to reflect on the inspirations behind them: ?If the paintings and the wine or the combination of the two bring some joy or cause someone to stop and look just a little longer to see what they can see, then I'm happy. I think it?s what we all need to do at this point . . . just slow down a little bit . . . just pay attention a little bit more and enjoy the gift instead of moving so fast through space."

Rendezvous treats us to what we would all want an actual rendezvous to be: wild, unexpected, exciting, and unpredictable. Without ever beginning to be ordinary, it never ceases to be delicious. Of course, if it were ordinary, it wouldn't be an Artiste wine. Rendezvous comprises a blend of 90% Syrah and 10% Pinot Noir. Aromas like baked, spiced pineapple and mango are the first to greet the nose, but those transform into floral aromas of some exotically perfumed, flowering orchid. This wine has great fruit characteristics, balanced acidity, and ripe tannins that manage to be firm but not overpowering. $36.00, 750mL bottle. Buy after November 23rd at Artiste.com

First Dance
No less impressive than Rendezvous, “First Dance" proves that no sibling rivalry exists between these two wines; they shine equally, but in totally different ways. Pinot Noir makes up the bulk of this blend by far with just a little extra darkness from the Syrah, and the result is a sensual, exotic, racy wine that simply explodes with aromas and flavors of fruit and spice. Hints of cedar are perfectly integrated, as are the soft tannins and well-balanced acidity, both of which undoubtedly allow this wine to feel the way it does on the palate, the way that only one word can really accurately convey: sensual. 80% Pinot Noir blended with 10% Syrah $40.00, 750mL bottle. Buy after November 23rd at Artiste.com

We look forward to seeing you this holiday season. Bring your friends, family, and loved ones for a Rendezvous at Artiste!
